Zusammenfassung
An Hand kasuistischer Demonstrationen werden die wichtigsten Krankheitsbilder mit
akuter Amaurose besprochen, die durch chirurgische Behandlung geheilt oder gebessert
werden können. Die Operationsmethoden werden für die Pachymeningitis externa, die
Arachnitis opticochiasmatica, die akute intrakanalikuläre ödematöse Neuritis nervi
optici, den pulsierenden Exophthalmus und den malignen Exophthalmus angegeben. Vorbedingung
für einen optimalen Behandlungserfolg ist eine enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen praktizierender
Ärzteschaft, Ophthalmologen, Neurologen und Chirurgen. Die Verhütung der Blindheit
stellt ein besonders dankbares Gebiet ärztlicher Tätigkeit dar.
Summary
The most important signs and symptoms of acute amaurosis, which can be cured or improved
with surgical treatment, are presented and illustrated with case reports. Operative
methods are described for acute amaurosis due to external pachymeningitis, arachnitis
of the optic chiasma, acute intracanalicular oedematous neuritis of the optic nerve,
pulsating exophthalmos, and malignant exophthalmos. The importance of close liaison
between general practitioner, ophthalmologist, neurologist and surgeon in the diagnosis
and treatment of this condition is stressed.

Acerca del tratamiento quirúrgico de la amaurosis aguda
Con motivo de unas demostraciones clínicas, se hace referencia a los principales cuadros
clínicos que cursan con amaurosis aguda y que pueden ser mejorados o curados mediante
un tratamiento quirúrgico. Se describen los métodos operatorios para el tratamiento
de la paquimeningitis externa, de la aracnoiditis optoquiasmática, de la neuritis
óptica edematosa intracanalicular aguda, del exoftalmos pulsátil y del exoftalmos
maligno. Es premisa ineludible para conseguir el éxito terapéutico la estrecha colaboración
entre los médicos no especializados, oftalmólogos, neurólogos y cirujanos. La evitación
de la ceguera constituye un progreso que hay que agradecer a la actividad de los médicos.
